Question 954639: A rectangular property has a perimeter of 22km. Fifteen times the length is 40 times the breadth. What is the area?
Answer by macston(5194)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
L=length; W=width (or breadth); A=area; P=perimeter=22km

Substitute for L
Divide each side by 2.
Multiply each side by 3/11
The width is 3 kilometers.

The length is 8 kilometers.
A=L*W=8km*3km=24 sq km ANSWER: The area is 24 square kilometers.
CHECK:
P=2(L+W)
22km=2(8km+3km)
22km=2(11km)
22km=22km
