P=2(L+W)
24ft=2(L+W) Divide each side by 2.
12ft=L+W Substitute for W
12ft=L+(L+4ft) Subtract 4ft from each side.
8ft=2L Divide each side by 2.
4ft=L ANSWER 1:The length is 4 feet.
W=L+4ft=4ft+4ft=8ft ANSWER 2: The width is 8 feet.
CHECK:
P=2(L+W)
