Question 943850: Can you help me with this question please. A 400 meter quadrant track ( means 100m along each curve and 100 m along each straightway)is to be fenced. How much fence is needed to enclose the track in a rectangular shape?
Answer by macston(5194)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Each corner (90 degrees) is 1/4 of a circle with circumference 400 M

=63.7 m=Radius of each corner
So at the start of each corner curve, the fence will continue straight 63.7 meters, turn 90 degrees continue another 63.7 meters to meet the next straightway, so squaring off each 100 meter curved corner requires 127.4 meters of fence, and the total would be 4(100 meters) for straightways and 4(127.4 meters) for squaring the corners so:
total fence=4(100 m)+4(127.4 m)=400 m + 509.6m=909.6 m ANSWER
