2nd piece:: x+4 ft
3rd piece:: 3x-5 ft

x + x+4 + 3x-5 = 49
Combine like terms to get,
5x - 1 = 49
5x = 50
x = 10 ft (1st piece)
2nd piece:: x+4 = 14 ft
3rd piece:: 3x-5 = 30-5 = 25 ft
