Question 918410: Hello! Can you please explain how to solve this word problem?
The hypotenuse of a right triangle is twice as long as one of its legs. The other leg is nine inches long. Find the hypotenuse.
I know that I use the Pythagorean Theorem formula, a^2+b^2=c^2. I need help making the equation and solving it please, thank you in advance!

You MUST understand the Pythagorean Theorem formula. c is for hypotenuse, b and a are the legs. Analyze the description and assign variables like THIS:

a,b,c;
c=2a, and b=9.

Use the formula!

Solve for a;
use a to evaluate c.
