Question 916502: A hall is 20m long and 18 m broad . A carpet is to be laid to this hall leaving a margin of 1m around.
1)Find its length and breath of the carpet required.
2) Find the area of the carpet and its cost at the rate of rupees 150 per square meter.
Answer by Theo(13342) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
length of the room = 20 meters.
width of the room = 18 meters.
you want a margin of 1 meter around the carpet.
you have to subtract 1 meter from both sides of the length of the room to get:
length of the carpet = 20 - 2 = 18 meters.
you have to subtract 1 meter from both sides of the width of the room to get:
width of the carpet = 18 - 2 = 16 meters.
area of the carpet is 18 * 16 = 288 square meters.
at a cost of 150 rupees for each square foot, the total cost would be equal to:
150 * 288 = 43,200 rupees.
