Question 909631: You are varnishing the background for a rectangular mural. The base of the mural is 4.5 meters and the height of the mural is 5 meters. How many cans of varnish will you need if each can covers 10 square meters? Can you please help me solve this problem?
Answer by JulietG(1812)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The area of the canvas is 4.5 * 5 = 22.5 square meters
If a can covers 10 square meters, you will need 22.5m^2/10m^2 or 2.25 cans.
Since it's doubtful you can buy a quarter of a can, you'll need to purchase 3 cans.
