Question 890008: The sides of a triangular rug are three consecutive even integers. The sum of the two sides is 22 more than the third side. Find the sides of the rug.
I only need the formula. I tried x+22
Answer by algebrahouse.com(1659) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x = 1st side
x + 2 = 2nd side {consecutive even integers increase by 2}
x + 4 = 3rd side {consecutive even integers increase by 2}
x + x + 2 = x + 4 + 22 {the sum of the two is 22 more than the third}
2x + 2 = x + 26 {combined like terms}
x = 24 {subtracted x and 2 from each side}
24, 26, and 28 are the three sides
