the length of the first side of a triangle piece of wood is twice the length of the second side and the length of the third side is one inch less than the first side if the perimeter is 79 what are the lengths of the sides ?
Let the length of the second side = x inch
the length of the first side = 2x inch
the length of the third side = 2x-1 inch
the perimeter of the triangle = 79 inch
perimeter = sum of all the three sides of the triangle
p = first+second+three
79 = x+2x+(2x-1)
79+1 = 5x 5x = 80
x= 80/5 = 16
first side = 2.16 = 32 inch
second side = 16 inch
third side = 31 inch
