Joshua's family is starting a business selling maple syrup.\
They plan to sell the syrup to restaurants in one-gallon cans (1 gallon = 231 in^3).
Describe the dimensions of a cylindrical can that will hold one gallon of syrup when full.
:
Choose a convenient height for the can, say 8", find the radius of this can.
= 231
divide both sides by 8
= 28.875
=
r =
r = 3.03 inches is the radius of the can
:
Practically though, I would make the height 9" to have a little room when one gallon is added. Prevent overflow because expansion etc.
