Question 872454: a square and a rectangle have the same perimeter. the length of the rectangle is 4 cm less then twice the side of the square, and the width of the rectangle is 6 cm less then the side of the square. Hi,
Perimeters of Square and Rectangle Equal
P = 2L + 2w
2(2s-4) + 2(s-6) = 4s
4s - 8 + 2s - 12 = 4s
2s = 20
s = 10
P(square) = 4*10cm = 40cm (also the Perimeter of the Square)
CHECKING our answer*** = 40cm
