Question 863336: A ship travels from point A to point B along a circular path, center at Island X. Then it travels along a straight path from B to C. Points A, B, and C are co-linear and the distances from X to A, from X to B, and from X to C are each 12 miles. The ship is traveling at a constant speed of 17 knots. If the ship has remained on the same circular path from B to C as from A to B, the travel time from B to C would have been two-thirds of the travel time from A to B. Write a function that best describes the ship's distance in miles from Island X as it moves along its course. The independent variable for the function is time(t); assume t=0 hours when the ship is at point A.

Is there a diagram?
How can a, b and c be co linear and also on the same circular path?
Is the distance from x to c= 12 or b to c= 12?
