You are close, but I think it would be:
let a = "other angle"
then
a + 30 = "one angle"
so we have
(a + 30) + a = 90
multiply eq by 3 to get rid of the annoying fraction
a + 90 + 3a = 270
4a = 270 - 90
4a = 180
a = 180/4
a = 45 degrees is the other angle
then
(45) + 30 = 45 degrees also the "one angle"
