Question 832041: Please help with where to start::::: angles G and H are complimentary(=90 degrees). G=3x+6 and H=2x-11, what is the measure of each angle?
I haven't done this in over a decade, just need help on what to do first. Thank you

Well, since you have G and H are complimentary, that means they add up to 90
Let's write it down
G + H = 90
Since you have G = 3x +6 and H=2x-11, let's plug them in the equation
(3x+6) + (2x-11) = 90
5x -5 = 90
5x = 95
x = 19
Woo-hoo, you found x, now they ask you what is the measure of G and H
G = 3x+6 = 3*19 + 6 = 63 degree
H = 2x-11 = 2*19 - 11 = 27 degree
Or another way to find H is you can take 90 - G = 90 - 63 = 27 because these two angles add up to 90
