first mile:
y/x = 840/5280
---
to the pass:
Y/X = Y/(7.75 miles * 5280 ft/mile)
Y/X = Y/(40920)
---
y/x = Y/X
840/5280 = Y/(40920)
Y = (40920)840/5280
---
answer:
total climb = 6510 ft

After traveling 1 mile, he climbs 840 feet
Using a proportion, and with amount of feet he climbs after going 7.75 miles being F, we get:
F, or amount of feet he climbs =
