The perimeter of a rectangle is 104 feet.
If the width is increased by 3/4 of the length, the width would then be 2 more than the length.
Find the original length and width.
:
2L + 2W = 104
Simplify divide by 2
L + W = 52
:
"If the width is increased by 3/4 of the length, the width would then be 2 more than the length.
W + L = (L+2)
we can use decimals here
W + 1.75L = L + 2
W + 1.75L - L = 2
W + .75L = 2
:
Using elimination
L + W = 52
.75L + W = 2
-------------- subtracting eliminates W, find L
.25L = 50
L = 50/.25
L = 200
Obviously this can't work
