Question 804066: A tree 50 feet high casts a shadow 48 feet long. Find the measure of the angle of elevation of the sun.
Answer by waynest(281) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
a = 50
b = 48
h = c
c = sqrt(a^2 + b^2)
c^2 = 50^2 + 48^2
c^2 = 4804
sqrt(c^2) = sqrt(4804)
c = 69.3
sinA = a/h
= 50/69.3
= 0.7215
sinA^-1 = 46.2 degrees
