here's the problem.
A piece of wire is enclosed in a shape of a square whose area is 169 sq cm. it is then reshaped to enclose a rectangle whose length is 15 cm. find the area of the rectangle in square inches.

A piece of wire is enclosed in a shape of a square whose area is 169 sq cm. it is then reshaped to enclose a rectangle whose length is 15 cm. find the area of the rectangle in square inches.

Square DATA:
Area = 169 sq cm
Each side = sqrt(169) = 13 cm
Perimeter = 4*13 = 52 cm

Rectangle DATA:
Perimeter = 52 cm
P = 2(length + width)
52 = 2(15 + w)
26 = 15+w
w = 11 cm

Area of the Rectangle:
A = length * width
Area = 15*11 = 165 cm^2
