The slope of a line passing through two points can be caalculated as the ratio of the difference in y-coordinate, divided by the difference in x-coordinate.
The coordinates of one of the points (either one) are subtracted from the coordinates of the other to calculate those differences. You can choose what point's coordinates will be subtracted, but use the same point for both differences.
For (-4,-1) and (3,8/3):

For (3,8/3) and (8,-4):

For (8,-4), and (2,-9):

For (-4,-1) and (2,-9):

The side connecting (3,8/3) and (8,-4) and
the side connecting (-4,-1) and (2,-9)
are parallel.
