Question 762194: In a triangle, the measure of the first angle is 24 degrees more then the second angle. The measure of the third angle is four times more then the second angle. If the total number of degrees in a triangle is 180, what is the measure of the largest angle?
Answer by Stitch(470)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let A = the first angle
Let B = the second angle
Let C = the third angle
Equation 1:
Equation 2:
Equation 3:
-------------------------
Note that equations 2 & 3 are solved in terms of B.
Plug (B + 24) into equation 1 for A and plug (4B) into equation 1 for C.
Equation 1:

Combine like terms.

Subtract 24 from both sides.

Divide both sides by 6.

Using 26 for B, solve for A & C.
------------------------
Equation 2:

------------------------
Equation 3:

The largest angle is 104 degrees.
