Use Pythagoras.
Length^2 + Width^2 = Diagonal^2
12^2 + 5^2 = Diagonal^2
Diagonal^2 = 169ft
Diagonal =
Diagonal = 13ft.

d = sqrt[12^2+5^2] = sqrt[169] = 13 ft
