Question 756497: The length of a rectangle is 4 times its width. the area is 144 cm^2. Find the dimensions of the rectangle.
Answer by Cromlix(4381) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Width = x
Length = 4x
Area = Length * Width
144 = 4x (x)
144 = 4x^2
4x^2 = 144
x^2 = 36
x = square root of 36
x = 6
Therefore width = x = 6cm
length = 4x = 24cm
Area = w * w
= 6 * 24
= 144 cm^2
Hope this helps.
