Question 754148: Geometry question diagram shows the tracks of an army tank the tracks wrap around four wheels of radius 0.5 metres each. calculate the length of the track needed to wrap around the four wheels Answer by Cromlix(4381) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! What you have here is a rectangle and a circle
(two semicircles either end)
Using the radius of 0.5m we have
2 x 3 metres length (2 + 2 1/2 wheels)
and the circumference of the circle
radius 0.5m = 1.0 m diameter
Circumference = pi*d
= 3.14m
Total length = 6m + 3.14m
= 9.14m
