What's a good word problem that incorporates distance formula, volume, and circles all in one problem?
:
I don't know about a "good problem" but here is a problem:
:
Years ago before the advent of electricity, wheat was ground by using a
grinding device powered by an animal like a horse or a mule walking
in a circle turning the grinding device.
A horse walks about 2 mph in a circle with a radius of 10 ft.
The grinding device can grind about 1/4 cu/ft of wheat for each turn
of the wheel,
How long would it take with this set up to grind 100 cu/ft of wheat.
:
Find how long it would take the horse to complete one circle at 2 mph
Find how many laps required to grind 100 cu/ft of wheat
How far would the horse travel to accomplish this?
