Question 710112: The perimeter of a rectangle playing field is 504 yards. its length is 6 yards shorter than twice its width. what is the area?
Answer by sachi(548) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
length is 6 yards shorter than twice its width.
let the width is x
then length =2x-6
The perimeter of a rectangle playing field is 504 yards.
so 2(x+2x-6)=504
or 3x-6=504/2=252
or 3x=252+6=258
or x=258/3=86=width
length=2*86-6=166
the area=86*166=14276
