Question 694942: The length of a rectangular garden is 7ft longer than the width. The perimeter of the garden is 50ft. What is the area of the garden?
Answer by mathbird(71) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
let the width=x
length=7+x
perimeter=2(l+b)
50=2(x+7+x)
50/2=2x+7
25=2x+7
25-7=2x
18=2x
18/2=x
9=x
hence width=9ft
length=9+7=16ft
area=l*b
=16*9
=144ft^2
