Question 676435: The length of a rectangle is 8 m more than 6 times the width. The Perimeter is 156 m. Find the width.
Answer by ReadingBoosters(3246)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
l = 8+6w
p = 2l + 2w = 156
...
156 = 2(8+6w) + 2w
Distribute the 2
...
156 = 16 + 12w + 2w
Combine like terms
156 = 16 + 14w
156 - 16 = 16 - 16 + 14w
140 = 14w
...
Divide both sides by 14
140/14 = 14w/14
