Did you mean width is x?
p = 140
P = 2l + 2w
p = 2(2x-2) + 2x = 140
4x - 4 + 2x = 140
6x - 4 = 140
6x = 140 - 4
6x = 136
x = 22.67 is the width (the shorter side)
length = 2(22.67)-2 = 43.33 is the length
