Question 644309: Leona planted 12 acres of soybean but by the end of each week insects had destroyed 1/3 acreage that was healthy at the beginning of the week. How many acre does she have left after 4 weeks? My answer is 64/27 and I hope it is right. Please let me know if I am right. thank you

You are correct.
The relationship between the acreage remaining after n weeks is
(1) A sub(n) = ((2/3)^n)*12
For n = 4 we have
(2) A sub(4) = 2^4/3^4 * 12 or
(3) A sub(4) = 64/27
Question,"How many weeks will it take to have less than 1 acre remaining?"
