We can let it be a rectangular box or a cube. You said 10 cm so a cube looks like what you want. The cube is 10cm by 10cm by 10cm. The volume of the cube is:
Volume=10cm*10cm*10cm=1000cm^3
There are 6 sides to this cube. Each side has an area which is 10cm*10cm=100cm^2. When we add all 6 sides:
Surface Area=6*100cm^2=600cm^2
