1. Wagon has a volume of 900 cu in. It is 30 in. long and 10 in. wide. How deep is the wagon?
Let d = depth of box
then
d*30*10=900
d*300=900
d = 900/300
d = 3 inches
.
2. A flower box is 7 feet long, 2 feet wide, and 2 feet deep. How many cubic feet of dirt will it hold?
7*2*2 = 14*2 = 24 cubic feet
.
3. If dirt is sold in bags that hold 3.5 cu ft, how many bags of dirt will it take to fill the box?
24/3.5 = 6.86
so, it will take 7 bags
