Question 596609: if each side of a square is increased by 5 meters, the area becomes 81 square meters. determine the length of a side of the original square.
(we are working on factoring right now, so I assume she wants us to use that, but I do not know how to set up the problem and solve it, she showed us how to do triangles, but not a problem similar to this. SO I am confused)

81 = 9*9, so the side length of the new square is 9 meters

Therefore the original side length is 4 meters.
