Question 520103: A rectangular window has a length that is three times the width, the perimeter is 56 feet, find the length and width of the window
Answer by Maths68(1474)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Perimeter = P = 56
Length = l = 3w (Given)

Length = ?
Width = ?

Perimeter of rectangel = 2l + 2w

p = 2l + 2w
56 = 2(3w) + 2w
56 = 6w + 2w
56 = 8w
56/8=8w/8
7=w
w=7

Given
Length = l = 3w
Length = l = 3(7)
Length = 21

Perimeter = P = 56 ft.
Length = l = 21 ft.
Width = 7 ft
