let the width = x

length = x + 2
Perimeter = 196
2(length+ width ) = 196

width = 48
so length = 48+2 = 50

Let x = the width
Then the length which is "2 cm more than 5 times the width" would be: 2+5x
The perimeter is is the sum of 2 lengths and 2 widths. So
196 = 2*x + 2*(2+5x)
which simplifies to:
196 = 2x + 4 + 10x
196 = 12x + 4
Subtracting 4 from each side:
192 = 12x
Dividing both sides by 12:
16 = x
Since x was the width, the width is 16. The length is 2+5x. Since x = 16, the length would be 2 + 5(16) = 1 + 80 = 82.

So width = 16cm and length = 82cm.
