Let the width = x yards
==> length = x + 1.5 yards

Perimeter = 40 yards
==> 2(length + width) = 40
==> 2( x + 1.5 + x ) = 40

==> 2( 2x + 1.5 ) = 40

so the width is 9.25 yards

and length is 7. 75 yards
