Question 399866: a closed box with a square base is to have a volume of 1,500 cubic inches. Express its surface area as a function of its length.
Answer by mananth(16946) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
let length of square base be l
so area of base = l^2
Volume = l^2*h ====> h = height
h= 1500/l^2
..
surfae area of closed box = 2l^2+2*l*h+2*l*h
=2l^2+4lh
substitute value of h
=2l^2+4*l*(1500/l^2)
=2l^2+6000/l
