Question 378018: The width of a rectanglar picture frame is 5in less its length. The area equal 150sq in. How wide is the frame?
Answer by mananth(16946) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
let length = x
width = x-5
..
L*W= Area
x(x-5)=150
x^2-5x=150
-150
x^2-5x-150=0
x^2-15x+10x-150=0
x(x-15)+10(x-15)=0
(x-15)(x+10)=0
x= 15 in the length
length will be 15-5 = 10 inches
