Question 327424: A ladder is resting against a wall. The top of the ladder touches the wall at the hieght of 12feet. Find the length of the ladder if the length is 8feet more than its distance from the wall.
I have gotten as far as this:
12^2 + b^2 = (b + 8)^2
144 + b^2 = b^2 16b + 64
16b = 144 - 64
16b = 80
then what do I do?
