All of the rooms in a building are rectangular, with nine-foot ceilings. One room is 10 feet wide by 14 feet long. What is the combined area of the four walls, including doors and windows?

The room has opposite walls that have congruent areas

One wall's area is the room's length x its height, or L x H, so these 2 opposite sides will be 2(L * H) = 2(14 * 9), or areas totaling 252 sq feet

The other wall's area is the room's width x its height, or W x H, so these 2 opposite sides will be 2(W * H) = 2(10 * 9), or areas totaling 180 sq feet

Adding the four walls' areas, we get: 252 + 180, or square feet.
