(ie) It might burn 10 inches in 10 second and 1 inch in 10 minutes, but it takes the string exactly 1 hour. you have 2 strings and matches, how do you find exactly 45 minutes. you dont have a watch or clock.

You can put this solution on YOUR website! light one string at both ends
at the same time, light the other string at one end
when the first string is completely burned (30 min), light the unburned end of the second string
it will take the second string another 15 min to burn completely
