Question 304897: 4.The number of miles remaining for a jet traveling from San Francisco to New York can be approximated with the linear equation Miles remaining = 2650 - 475t where t is the number of hours since leaving San Francisco. In how many hours will the jet be 1,000 miles from New York?
I have tried m=2650-475t but I have no starting miles to go off of. I really don't understand how to set this equation up to get my final answer. Could you please help me understand how to solve this problem so I can do it. Thanks
Answer by ankor@dixie-net.com(22740) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
2650 - 475t = 1000
-475t = 1000 - 2650
-475t = -1650
same as
475t = 1650
t =
t = 3.47 hrs
