add north and south
5 north+8 south leaves 3
add east and west
10 west+14 east leaves 4
This is a classic 3,4, 5 Pythagorean triplet right triangle
You can also apply Pythagorean theorem
3^2+4^2=d^2
9+16=d^2
25=d^2
5=d
