We need to have both the perimeter and the length of fence pieces in the same units, so for convenience sake we’ll simply convert both into furlongs.

# of sides * length of side = perimeter.

Divide the perimeter by 660 to convert the perimeter to furlongs.

660 / 1.5 feet (18 inches) = 440 fence pieces per furlong.
Multiply the perimeter in furlongs by 440 to find the number of pieces you need.
Divide the number of pieces by 5 to find out how many boxes you need. Round up to next full box if needed & bob’s your uncle!
