father of the house rushed to the door. The statistician
explained what he was there for and asked the father of the
house how many children lived here?
The father said there were three children living in the
house, as he heard the kids making loud noises
inside the home. The statistician marked the
information down and asked the father how old each
child was?
As one child started screaming inside the house, the father,
being annoyed by the questions, told the statistician the
product of their ages is 72. The statistician pondered this
answer briefly and asked the father if there
was any other information he could give that could lead to
him knowing the ages of the children.
As the father heard the television volume start blaring
inside, he told the statistician that the sum of the ages of
children was their house number. The statistician took
a step back and looked at the number above the door.
He pondered a moment and asked the father if there
was any other information he could provide that would
help him determine the ages of the children.
As the father heard the sound of glass breaking
inside, told the statistician that youngest child loves
m&m's. The statistician immediately wrote
something down in his clipboard and told the father,
"Thank you for your time. I have the ages of your
children. Have a good day!" He proceeds to walk
away and the father rushes inside to find out what is
happening.
