If 100 feet of fence is used to enclose a rectangular yard, find the length and the width that give max area.
As you can see from the below table, a square will always have the max area.
In fixed perimeter problems, greatest areas are found in the regular shapes that have equal sides, such as equilateral trianges, squares and so on. This can be mathematically proven, but am not going to go into that.
