One side of a kite is 4 cm less than 3 times the length of another. If the perimeter is 32 cm, find the length of each side of the kite.
The kite is made up of two sets of equal sides. Let x be the length of two of the sides. The length of each of the other two sides is then 3x-4.
The perimeter then is:
x + x + (3x-4) + (3x-4) = 32
8x - 8 = 32
8x = 40
Solve for x and then calculate 3x-4 to get the lengths of the sides.
