and the width of the rectangle = y
Given, perimeter 2(x+y) = 54 mts
x+y = 54/2
x+y = 27
y = 27-x ...(1)
Also, area xy = 180
x(27-x) = 180
27x-x^2 = 180
-x^2+27x-180 = 0
x^2-27x+180 = 0
(x-15)(x-12)= 0
x = 15 and x = 12
Therefore, the length of the rectangle = 15 mts
and the width of the rectangle is y = 27-15 = 12 mts
