The length of a rectangle is 4 times the width. The perimeter is 200 ft. Find the length & width of the rectangle.
What do we know?
We know the outside of the rectangle (Perimeter) is 200ft.
Let P=200
what is the formula for the perimeter?
L+L+W+W=Perimeter
We also know that L=4W
So now we can substitute 4W for every L in the equation
so we have
4W+4W+W+W=200
10W=200
W=20 Ft.
4W=80 Ft.=L
