One angle of a triangle is 20⁰ larger than the smallest angle, and the third angle is 6 times as large as the smallest angle.
Find the measures of the three angles
:
Let x = the smallest angle
:
It says,"One angle of a triangle is 20⁰ larger than the smallest angle,"
therefore:
(x+20) = the other angle
:
Then it says,"the third angle is 6 times as large as the smallest angle."
therefore:
6x = the largest angle
;
The total of all three angles has to be 180, therefore
x + (x+20) + 6x = 180
8x = 180 - 20
8x = 160
x =
x = 20 degrees is the smallest angle
:
I'll let you find the other two angles.
