If surface area of a cube is 294, then remember that there are 6 faces of the cube. If you divide by 6, this means that each face is 294/6=49.

If the edge of the cube is s, then s^2=49, so s= 7.

V=s^3
V=7^3= 49*7=343

First find the length of one edge of the cube. We'll call this s.
The surface area of a cube which has 6 square faces, and the area of each face is , is:
and this is given as 294, so...
Divide both sides by 6.
Take the square root of both sides.
or We'll discard the negative solution as the length is a positive quantity.
Now we have the length of one edge of the cube, we can find the cube's volume by:

cubic units.
